Foreign Worker (FWHS) Insurance

What does it cover?

This policy is an compulsory scheme required by the Ministry of Health to cover your foreign workers’ hospital charges

Key Coverage

All benefits payable for any number of disabilities are paid up to the overall Annual limit of RM20,000.00.

Admission to non-corporatized Malaysian government hospitals only.

The actual premium is RM120.00 per worker per annum  
(Premium is subject to RM10 Stamp Duty, and 8% Service Tax for corporate policy).

Note: 
This list is non-exhaustive. Please refer to the sample policy contract for the full list of exclusions under this policy.

  • Plastic/cosmetic surgery
  • Dental treatment or oral surgery
  • Treatment or surgical operation for congenital abnormalities or deformities
  • Pregnancy or miscarriage
  • Treatment which is not medically necessary
  • Suicide or self-inflicted injury while sane or insane
  • Accidental injuries or illnesses arising from racing or hazardous sports
  • Cardiovascular diseases and all cancers occurring within the first 120 days of insurance
  • Pre-existing conditions, unless the insured passes the medical examination as confirmed by FOMEMA Sdn Bhd (FOMEMA) within 30 days from the insured’s arrival to Malaysia.

Foreign Worker Insurance Guarantee (IG) Insurance

What does it cover?

This policy covers the cost of repatriation of your foreign workers.

Key Coverage

This guarantee is required by the Immigration department from an Employer under Regulation 21 of the Immigration Regulations. It guarantees to pay the Director General of Immigration of Malaysian up to a maximum aggregate sum of the guarantee value, in the event that anyone of foreign workers be repatriated in the course of stay in Malaysia.

Append below the circumstances under which the BG or IG may be called by the Immigration Department:

Breach of Section of the Immigration Act of Malaysia:

  • If worker get married/become pregnant during her stay.
  • If worker remains in Malaysia after the expiry of permit or visa
  • If the employer fails to provide air passage for the worker to his country of origin upon expiry of permit/visa
  • If the employer fails to provide costs of transportation for the worker mortal remains to his country of origin
  • If the employer refuses to pay the worker’s salary
  • If the worker involved in illegal and illicit activities, such as drug, immoral work and others
  • If the worker engages in any of employment paid or unpaid or in any business or any occupation or activity detrimental to security and well being of Malaysia

Note: All employers have to either place cash or obtain an Insurance Guarantee (IG)/Bank Guarantee (BG) in favour of the Immigration Department for each worker they employ. The employers, especially those who employ a number of workers normally obtain the IG/BG from insurance companies rather than placing cash or using their own Bank facilities.

The amount of guarantee varies according to nationalities. e.g.: RM250.00 for each Indonesian and RM500.00 for each Bangladeshi.
